Mother’s Day Gift Ideas For The Procrastinator In All Of Us

If you are anything like me, you tend to wait last minute for holiday gifts or forget altogether. I do not celebrate pagan holidays, so they aren’t that important to me, and I’m also a HUGE procrastinator(my downfall). So if you can relate with the latter, this post is just for you. I’ve come up with five inexpensive (or free!) Mother’s Day gift ideas for those that do celebrate.

Breakfast in Bed

Put your cooking skills to the test and treat mom at the same time! Nothing warms the heart or says “I love you Mom” like hot & syrupy pancakes, scrambled eggs and a latte served on a beautiful tray the moment she opens her eyes. And guess what, it doesn’t cost a fortune!

My favorite comfort breakfast food is homemade french toast. Yummmyyy! And it’s super quick and so easy. All you need are some eggs, milk, bread, cinnamon, and lots of love. 🙂 Or we can take this recipe from one of my favorite sites, Tasting Table.

French Toast

Recipe adapted from “Breakfast: Recipes to Wake Up For,” by Evan Hanczor and George Weld

Yield: 5 to 6 servings

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time:40 minutes

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

2 cups heavy cream

2½ tablespoons vanilla extract

2½ tablespoons maple syrup, plus more for serving

1 pinch kosher salt

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for serving

5 to 6 pieces challah or brioche, sliced 1 inch thick

DIRECTIONS1. Preheat the oven to 200°.

2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk, cream, vanilla, maple syrup, salt and nutmeg and whisk until thoroughly combined.

3. In a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and swirl the pan to coat. Make sure the butter does not brown.

4. Dip a slice of bread into the custard mix. If the bread is fresh, dip it quickly, as it’ll soak the custard mixture fast. If the bread is a little stale, allow it to soak in the custard for a few seconds. Remove the bread, allowing any excess batter to drip back into the bowl. Place the bread in the center of the skillet. Cook, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Repeat with the remaining slices.

5. Place each slice on a foil-lined baking sheet and keep warm in the oven while you prepare the rest.

6. Serve the French toast with additional butter and maple syrup.

DIY Your Gift
Remember when you were 5 years old and you came home from your kindergarten class with the card you made just for Mom. You run to her when you finally see her, eager to give her the card. You hand it to her, she smiles really wide, and gives you the biggest hug and kiss of your life. Your mom loved and cherished that card forever, so why not give her something she can love and cherish now. Here are some do-it-yourself gift ideas for your special lady.
Gift Cards
That’s right, I said it. As corny as it may sound, gift cards come in handy in last minute gifting and you choose the amount you want to add. Plus, who wouldn’t want money to spend at their favorite store? Bonus for you, you can receive cash back on your gift card purchases by using or Ibotta. #TeamWinning
Take the stress out of Mother’s Day, you can thank me later, and don’t over think it. Happy Mother’s Day!!

Columbia Fashion Week Press Conference

It’s almost that time again! Columbia Fashion Week is quickly approaching and I am so excited! I didn’t get to attend this year’s castings, and I’m not sure if they will have anymore, so I won’t be walking this year. But this gives me the opportunity to work behind the scenes as press! I’m usually always walking in a show, so to be able to sit and enjoy an actual fashion show will be quite refreshing for me.

Back in April (I know I’m late) I was able to attend their public press conference here in Columbia at Vestique. Once I get my media package I will be able to officially say I am press for Columbia Fashion Week!

This year’s events will be held June 15-20, 2015. Tickets are on sale now. I’ll have more footage of the conference soon! Enjoy!

Beaufort Air Show (5 Hour Energy Promo)

Promo life! So I’ve been a promotional model for about 2 1/2 years now. Basically, companies hire me to attend shows and events to promote their product or service. I have worked for Aleve, Geico, Sports Illustrated, Allstate, Spalding, Hennessy, and SVEDKA to name a few. (To see a my complete resume, head to For this gig, I was working 5 Hour Energy, at the Beaufort Air Show, getting people to play special games for cool prizes (like my awesome 5 Hour sunnies) and samples of the product. I had a blast!

I met these cool guys from the Navy’s Blue Angels. They had this awesome air show. I managed to get video but I have to figure out how to upload. :-/

I get to meet and interact with lots of different people. It’s a great experience.

This was a cool “Stealth” car by the Air Force. Talk about futuristic! This thing looked like it came straight out of the movies. Just more amazing things I see while working. 😀
